Let me grab a coffee, adjust my crown and get the day started. This is my life in words.

Love and Other Lost Things | Melissa Wiesner
This book does have themes that can be triggering to people so please look over the author’s note before continuing on with this story. Of course I only knew the gist of the storyline and didn’t know the “meat” of the story until diving in. I was shocked at what the heart of the book was and some parts were difficult to read and I felt extreme empathy for the women in this book.

I am glad that the author highlighted such a difficult topic so women who are in this situation can feel some hope and find the strength to reach out for help. Although, this book is a maybe for me, I do think there are people out there that would connect more with the characters than I did. Still a good read though.

A Love Letter to Whiskey | Kandi Steiner (5th Anniversary Edition)
AHHHH! I fucking loved this book so much! This one made me feel all feelings and to the fullest. I drank it all up. When I shut the book I had happy tears and my heart felt feelings so intensely. The passion between Jamie and B was such a pleasure to read. My heart broke, it was mended, broke again, and the rollercoaster continued throughout the whole book and I enjoyed every minute. For this edition, it had both their POVS. A Love Letter to Whiskey was B’s POV which hooked me in and Love, Whiskey is Jamie’s POV and that got me addicted to this book. This is a DEFINITE MUST READ!!!!

The Boyfriend | Freida McFadden
Freida delivered with her twist and turns. I must admit that the beginning of the book was a tad slow. The FMC was hard to follow a little because she seemed so insecure with herself and desperate for a boo thang. I really did think I knew where the story was going and loudly gasped at a few parts that got me shocked! Although slow at the start, I still think this was a pretty good read.

The Last Letter | Rebecca Yarros
As to be expected, Ms. Yarros got me bawling my eyes out again. Lol. As I was reading, there were moments that were heartbreaking, yes. I thought it was smooth sailing, just normal feelings of sadness that I was able to handle and of course, BOOM. A moment that was not expected and I bawled my eyes out. Despite the part where my heart was ripped out, it was a good story throughout. haha. It was such a pleasure reading through Beckett’s and Ella’s story of extreme love, loyalty, grief and hope.

Visions & Shadows (Vaalbara#1) | Michelle Heard (ARC Review)
* Reviewed on Goodreads prior to this blog post being published
I am so grateful to have been gifted with the opportunity to read this ARC by Chasing Books PR through BookFunnel

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. There were many things I didn’t quite understand. The FMC is destined to save 10 people on earth and the rest of earth will be obliterated while the 10 chosen are to create a new human world in the other realm. There was no explanation as to why those specific 10 were the chosen ones.

Then there were people who seemed as if they would be important to the story but died before being able to connect with those characters.
I couldn’t even connect with the FMC. She seemed so chaotic. (Honestly, everything seemed so chaotic.) Her guardian/love interest also was so damn intense but not the intense you get connected or attracted to. He never listened and he had an ability to take away her pain and he did so BUT many times without her consent.

Ultimately, in my opinion, it felt like a lot of information was missing and things happened so fast and so chaotically. I hate to say, this isn’t a book I would recommend.

Meet Me at the Lake | Carley Fortune (re-read)
crownandcoffeereads. vol. 4
AAHHHHHH! If you loved Carley Fortune’s first book Every Summer After (review here), you will LOVE this book. I was stuck in the fictional land of Every Summer After for weeks but now that I dove in and visited Brookbanks Resort, I can’t leave. I love the story between Fern and Will, past and present day (and I have absolutely fallen for Will *swoon* ). There are moments where your chest will hurt and your cheeks will blush all the while you are lovingly smiling for these characters, main and supporting. Please go out and grab this one. It’s a must have in your home library!

Powerless (The Powerless Trilogy, #1) | Lauren Roberts
“And I will save your life again and again, aimlessly hoping you will let me stay in it.”
Going into this book, I had no idea it was a YA novel. Although I was missing the spice, the banter between Kai and Paedyn was chef’s kiss. The tension the banter holds is just as exciting and enticing as reading spicy parts in other books. I smiled like a fool many times and clutched my heart with how beautifully the words were written for them. Kai makes me soon. He is torn between right and wrong but his words are like poetry. This is a definite must read but “Careful, darling” you will fall in love fast.

Reckless (The Powerless Trilogy #2) | Lauren Roberts
“And where there is a flame, there is always a shadow. She is my inevitable.”
My eyes were wide open and a huge gasp escaped me at the end of Powerless. The hunt was on in this book and I really did feel pain in my heart with the Kai’s struggle with duty and choice. The banter was great in Powerless and the constant fights between Kai and Paedyn were just as good in this one. There is a fine line between love and hate and we get to “watch” them struggle to walk it. The end has me broken and absolutely counting down the days that book #3 comes out. Such a great series so far!

Powerful (The Powerless Trilogy, #1.5) | Lauren Roberts
This was a novella and based on the story of Adena (a beloved supporting character in Powerless). I do appreciate knowing her background but I do think this could be skipped. It didn’t grip me as much as I thought that it would. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a heartbreaking story and I liked it, but I didn’t love it.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things | Iain Reid
Ok sooooooo. This one was….weird. I am always down for a movie or book that is on the strange, creepy side. A piece that really makes you think because it messes with your own thoughts. I’m a fan of pieces like The Virgin Suicides, Gone Girl, and All Good Things. This book is along those lines. Again, strange and a bit creepy. If that’s your vibe, this is the book for you. I did read somewhere that it’s recommended to read this a second time and I don’t think that’s my journey for this book in particular. A one time hit was enough for me which also means I won’t be venturing to watch the movie.

Happy Reading!
